Hands On Knee
Objective
Brings your centre of mass forward and over the outside ski. Creates movement. Limits rotation.
Terrain
Terrain appropriate to guests abilities.
Variations or progressions
Outside hand on the outside knee and the other hand stays in front to aid with balance. As the skier develops you can put the hands on the knee earlier in the turn to aid with finding balance on the outside ski earlier in the turn.
Equipment
No Poles
How to do it
In the fall line, place both hands together on the outside knee. As that turn ends bring the hands upwards to around face height while keeping them outstretched, then repeat at the other side. Try to encourage constant movement to help establish a nice flowing rhythm.
Why
This is a very visually easy to follow exercise for kids or adults. It can help with finding balance on the outside ski, can also help reduce excessive rotation and help calm a busy upper body. Another benefit is to that it lowers the skiers centre of mass aiding with balance.
